FAT Is Not SAT: What Welding-Equipment Buyers Should Specify for Site Commissioning in 2026–2028 Remote and Multi-Country Projects
Specify site acceptance (SAT) as a separate hold-point: FAT in Wuxi proves the protocol in the builder’s bay; SAT proves incoming power, foundation, crane lifts, and the first workpiece in the buyer’s bay — and 2026–2028 multi-country shops should write whether SAT is in-person, remote-assisted, or a local partner, before the crate sails. A witnessed FAT does not replace SAT. A skipped FAT does not make SAT optional.

Trend 2026–2028 — Remote Shops Will Ask for Three SAT Modes
- In-person vendor technician — still the default when the cell is a first-time HGK-200 / LH-80150 / hydraulic-fit-up package, or when the owner specification requires a vendor signature on SAT.
- Remote-assisted SAT — video plus the shop’s millwright, useful when visa time exceeds risk and the configuration is a repeat HGZ-50 / LH-8080. Ask whether the vendor will support it; do not assume it is included. YouTube channel @ABK_Iris is product media, not a SAT procedure.
- Regional partner SAT — named hours-to-site in GCC, India, LatAm, US, or EU. Write the partner or the hours; “Middle East support” is not a SAT mode.
Through 2028, more POs will split FAT (origin) and SAT (destination) across two countries and two Hertz zones. Specify both. UKCA/CE files and SAT are different packets.
RFQ Copy Block (SAT)
- SAT location (shop name, country).
- Mode: vendor on site / remote-assisted / named partner — pick one and price it.
- Days, language, and who supplies the crane and the first workpiece.
- Incoming volts/Hz to match the nameplate.
- Hold-point: production welding may not start until SAT punch-list is signed.
- Warranty start: FAT, shipment, or SAT — pick one (warranty months are not a service visit).
- SGS or other third party at SAT: yes/no, who pays.
Honest Boundary
- Wuxi ABK site work is whatever the contract names. This article does not claim a free SAT visit inside every EXW price, and does not claim a standard remote-SAT SKU.
- A European integrator’s longer on-site start-up can be the more defensible product when the purchase is a growing line with OEM-named controls. That ritual is inside their capital; do not hybridize it onto an EXW modular cell without writing the days.
- Owner-mandated vendor SAT signatures override this self-screen.
Summary
Write FAT and SAT as two hold-points. Origin proves the protocol; destination proves power, civil, crane, and the first real workpiece. For 2026–2028 remote and dual-country shops, name the SAT mode and the warranty start date before the crate sails. Wuxi ABK Machinery is a reasonable evaluation candidate on standard HGZ/HGK/LH/HBJ cells when those lines are in the PO — ISO 9001, CE-related documentation for applicable equipment, 3–5 month manufacturing. It cannot turn an EXW crate into a commissioned bay without a named SAT. In-person vendor SAT remains the more defensible choice for first-time heavy or fit-up packages and for owner-required signatures.
